Clinical uses » benefits of SONOCUBIC™ 3D,4D imaging and more...

SONOCUBIC™ is intended to be used in Ultrasound. It has capabilities to process DICOM volumes. It is ideal for transvaginal and abdominal ultrasound examinations including obstetrics, gynecology and radiology.

CLINICAL BENEFITS in U/S:

Gyn: SONOCUBIC™ requires a shorter scanning time. The total uterine anatomy can be assessed with a short 4-5 second right to left sagittal sweep with the transducer. The finished scan can then be visualized in all 3 planes, including the impossible coronal plane. This allows for complete assessment of the endometrium as never before without the need for continuous scanning, avoiding patient discomfort and increasing clinical accuracy. Difficult morphologies such as, septate, bicornuate and other endometrium variations can be easily evaluated. The Multiplanar Reformatting display can show polyps, leiomyomas , myometrial contractions and other structures that can be quickly diagnosed and is covered by the CPT code #76377

3D Ultrasound provides additional information regarding the urethra and periurethral tissues not attainable using conventional 2D.
When combined with Hystero-Sonograms the amount of fluid needed is significantly reduced becoming a true “minimally invasive” modality, reducing patient discomfort and increasing accuracy.
Ovaries and cysts are easily studied. The cyst wall can be displayed as a photorealistic surface to determine its smoothness. Side by side follow up of such anatomy over time is a powerful tool when a clinical conclusion is needed.

Ob: SONOCUBIC ™ is the appropriate imaging tool to display normal and abnormal fetal anatomy in a photorealistic way. The combination of surface rendering and multiplanar 2D navigation is helpful in realizing the extensiveness of many anomalies including:
Neural tube defects, abdominal wall defects, skeletal anomalies, cleft lip and palate, club foot, clenched hands, diaphragmatic hernia, and cystic hygroma and many more.

Radiology: Ideal to assess large anatomy (Panoramic View), for muscles, tendons, vascular, "small parts", kidneys, urology, breast, prostate....

REIMBURSEMENT

With the increased use of 3D in routine obstetrical ultrasound examinations there have been questions about a suitable CPT billing code. These codes are now valid because 3D is able to obtain information not available using conventional 2D ultrasound.
The appropriate code for billing 3D ultrasound is CPT code 76377. (As expressed by the ACR)
The code says: "3-D rendering with interpretation and reporting of computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound or other tomographic modality -- requiring image post-processing on an independent workstation."

MULTIPLANAR REFORMATTING (MPR)

The ultimate goal of Multiplanar Reformatting is to shorten the study time and increase the diagnostic confidence by obtaining coronal planes that were once impossible to see.
The physician now has the complete freedom to navigate patient anatomy without the time consuming hassle and patient discomfort (endocavitary studies) that is typical with traditional 2D examinations. Pin-pointing is the key to locate and follow the anatomy of interest.

REAL TIME SURFACE (and transparent) RENDERING

The Ultrasound Software also provides an amazing surface rendering and skin texturing feature that can display the fetal morphology in a photorealistic way.

DICOM-PACS

SONOCUBIC™ is the perfect gateway to connect conventional U/S scanners to a DICOM PACS server, or a DICOM printer.

NETWORKING

Multiple site offices can be linked together by our exclusive networking tool that permits internet exchange of studies, eliminating the need for travel usually necessary for reviewing cases.

STORAGE

SONOCUBIC™ offers the possibility of long term archiving permitting the physical access to files when needed for review and providing more complete patient records
